Carnations
Carnations are back – in contemporary floristry they are no longer a Soviet-era classic but a textured, long-lasting flower with an incredible range of colours. At Flowers & Lovers we make bouquets with carnations in Vilnius, where they play the role of a full-fledged bloom rather than a filler.
What carnation bouquets we make
We use large-headed and spray carnations from Dutch and Colombian growers – cream, peach, terracotta, burgundy, greenish, two-tone. Carnations give a bouquet density and richness, so we combine them with chrysanthemums, lisianthus, roses and eucalyptus. Every bouquet is wrapped in matte paper and comes with your message.
Caring for carnations
Carnations are among the hardiest cut flowers: they last 2–3 weeks in a vase. Trim the stems diagonally between the nodes, remove the lower leaves, place them in clean, cool water and change it every 2–3 days. Keep them away from fruit and radiators. More in our post about carnations.
