Candles were invented as a source of light and performed the function of modern lamps, illuminating rooms, albeit dimly, but they were certainly useful during the dark hours of the day. With the advent of the light bulb, there was no longer a need for candles for lighting, but people did not stop buying them. Candles remained in the home as a decorative element.
Although the candle’s flame may seem small, it creates a cosy atmosphere and warmth in the home. The image of a candle often conjures up images of a snowy winter evening with a cup in hand, but the candle is now so associated with the good aura of the home that it has become more than just an element of the Christmas season. Coming home in the evening, listening to music and lighting a candle makes the rest even more precious. And it’s scientifically proven!
Uses of candles
Candles come in different shapes and sizes, colours and can be unscented or scented. They can be a great addition to the interior and an element of self-expression. They are used during festivals, for religious and ritual purposes, for meditation, yoga, and as a substitute for lamps when the power goes out.
Benefits
- Soothing. The floral and herbal scents used in the candles, such as geranium, lavender and mint, have a positive effect on a wide range of psychological ailments.

Candle care
Before lighting the candle, cut off about a quarter of the wick to avoid uneven burning, dripping or flaming.
Avoid draughts and burn the candle for at least 2 hours, which will allow the candle to burn evenly. Remember to cut off part of the wick each time before lighting the candle.
For safety reasons, do not leave the candle unattended, do not burn it all the way down, and extinguish it when there is a quarter of it left.
Do not touch or move the burning candle.
Use a special cap to extinguish the candle so that the hot wax does not spill out.
Do not move the candle until it has cooled completely.
